Honoring excellence on and off the field.
2016 Lufkin Pro Day Group Scholarship Recipients
The Lufkin Pro Day Group recently awarded $3,500 in scholarships to seven 2016 high school graduates from area schools.
Scholarship winners were chosen for demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, student involvement and community service during their high school careers.
“We are proud to award these young men and women with a scholarship to help them continue their education and pursue their dreams for a successful career. These students have goals to become a veterinarian, business leader, chemical engineer, pediatrician, computer analyst, dietician, and neonatologist,” said President Don Muhlbach. “This group of 2016 graduates is a small representation of the excellent educational experience that students receive from Angelina County school districts.”
The 2016 LPDG scholarship recipients were: Austin “Cade” Birchfield Zavalla HS, Laney Froebel Central HS, Chelsea Henderson Lufkin HS, Marlinda Ariel Inman Hudson HS, Rebecca Modisette Huntington HS, Samantha Montoya Diboll HS, and Luke Rowley Lufkin HS.
The Lufkin Pro Day Group scholarships are funded from the proceeds received from the annual banquet, which honors individuals from Angelina county who have had exceptional careers both on and off the field with emphasis on sports. TLPDG has honored 15 individuals over the past 6 years at their annual banquet. The Lufkin Pro Day Group is a 501c non-profit organization and has awarded scholarships to area students the past two years.
The 2016 Lufkin Pro Day banquet will be held on Thursday, September 29, at the Lufkin Convention Center. This year the Lufkin Pro Day Group will honor the late Pete Runnels Jovorskie Lane, and Trey Hearne. All three men are Lufkin High School Graduates.
